That was totally WICKED!

Day 2 and 3 in London has been amazing!! The weather was sunny and warm at 15 degrees Celsius and I have been able to see so much! Yesterday I explored London with a couple friends, Alex and Noah, that I made at the hostel I'm staying at and we saw some fantastic modern art galleries and shops. After buying an oyster card to take the underground trains we wound our way through London's busy streets to Trafalgar Square where I was blown away (yet again)! Most of the art galleries and museums in London are free, which is excellent, so after seeing some Van Gough at the National Gallery and eating lunch in the sun I went to go see WICKED!!! And it was SO GOOD!! I love the theatre and wished I was on stage singing and dancing every second of the show (I was definitely a better flying monkey when I was in The Wizard of Oz, haha). The show brought me back to my theatre days and I have been singing along to the WICKED songs in my head ever since. P.s. I sat by a very nice British couple at the show and they gave me my first Shantty, it was delicious! After WICKED I met back up with Noah and Alex and we made dinner at the Hostel and then went out to meet up with some of their friends. Today was another gorgeous day filled with walking and pictures. I caught a bus to Windsor and got to see my first castle!!! Windsor castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world and is one of the official residences of The Queen. It was beautiful, so cool, and and blew my mind. The archers slits in the walls, the central keep, dollhouse's with plumbing, stained glass windows, swords, crowns, and so much more! I was standing in the massive dining hall where hundreds of knight's crests decorated the ceiling and I had to remind myself to breathe. After the castle I walked along the river Thames and fed some swans, checked out the University and then jumped back on the bus for London. Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament (Which is massive, it makes you feel so small, but its beautiful, seriously stunning), and St. James Park, plus all the other buildings that I didn't know the names of that were equally stunning were some of today's adventures. Second thoughts on London: Everything is beautiful, all the buildings are older and only the ground floor has been modernized on the inside for shops. Its very clean, the streets are clean and the public transportation is unbelievably good. The city is ridiculously busy, but there is a good feel about it. And its massive! There is so much to see and everywhere you look you are blown away by what's in front of you, then you remember to turn around and Boom!, you are blown away again! This is the first time in my life I have really been able to marvel over something, and its bloody fantastic. So far everyone I have talked to has been extremely nice, and very willing to carry a conversation, answering a question, or chat for a minute. Its weird having to pay to use the restroom. And of course, I love the British accents. Alright, I am so tired from walking around in the sun all day (I know, woe is me), time for bed. Cheers!

  1. First of all, sounds incredible. I think I'd really enjoy the old buildings and the sense of history. Secondly, what is a Shantty? Finally, I'm still laughing at the mental image of you dressed as a flying monkey. That is all :)

    1. Haha, I can do better than a mental image... we have pictures and I am pretty sure a copy of the play. Shantty is a delicious British Beer/cider combination. Very sweet like a cider, but then goes down like a beer, perfect for an afternoon show in London.
